Presented by 87FSS. Join us for a free 2-day hiring fair and transition summit for servicemembers, veterans, and military spouses. Last year’s Summit had 99 on the spot job offers and over 400 interviews scheduled by a wide range of local, national and global employers.

This two-day transition summit will feature interactive and informative panel events, recruiter training, facilitated discussions, and a networking reception in the evening on the first day focused on improving competitive employment for all service members, veterans, and military spouses.

On the second day, the capstone event of the summit will be a large hiring fair featuring 150+ local, nationwide and global companies. This summit also features participation by and speakers from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Small Business Administration, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes, U.S. Department of Labor, and local chambers of commerce. Various locations and times for events.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst has partnered with the US Chamber of Commerce to host the Transition Summit taking place from June 7-8, 2017. An additional highlight for this year includes a full day workshop by Afterburner and is open to all ranks and their spouses.

Afterburner is a proud partner of Hiring our Hero’s and USAA. Together we equip participants with the skills to PLAN & EXECUTE THE DEVELOPMENT of a post-military career.

An EXECUTABLE CAREER PLAN – CAREER OBJECTIVES, NETWORKING STRATEGY, AND INTERVIEWING SKILLS. Craft a personal Value Proposition Shift from a military to a business “mindset” Identify specific industries that need military leader skillsets. Each participant will also receive a copy of Down Range, a career transition guide for veterans co-authored by Afterburner Founder & CEO, James D. Murphy and Director of Learning and Development, William M. Duke.  This unique workshop is presented by Afterburner, Inc. a veteran-owned and staffed training and consulting company founded in 1996 that has worked with over 85% of US Fortune 50 and many Global 1000 corporations. Lunch is included.

An additional highlight for this year includes a full day Military Spouse Symposium. Topics on:

    • SPOUSE AND POLICY PANEL: This panel discussion will focus on state policies and national programs that assist military spouses with their career opportunities.  Special emphasis will be on licenses and certifications.
    • RESUME WRITING STRATEGIES: Whether you are entering or re-entering the workforce, or looking to change jobs or companies, this seminar will cover the basics of resume development, with an emphasis on addressing resume gaps and showcasing your greatest strengths.
    • LinkedIn_logo_initialsLINKEDIN BEST PRACTICES: Your LinkedIn profile is just as important as your resume! This session will cover best practices and tips to enhance and expand your network.
    • NETWORKING YOUR WAY TO EMPLOYMENT: This workshop will provide tips on creating your 30-second commercial, review best practices for presenting your resume to a potential employer, and discuss items for having a balanced conversation that connects your skills, experience, education and passion with the employer’s needs.
    • REAL SPOUSES: REAL STORIES:  Learn how fellow military spouses have kept their career on the move while “married to the military”. LINKEDIN PHOTOS WILL BE PROVIDED AS WELL AS LUNCH.
